new life for the red oak
After clearing their homesite on top of Beech Mountain, red oak and birch trees were slabbed and kiln-dried for furniture in their new custom mountain home.
Rustic Luxe Bed
The slabs were woven together for a dramatic head board. Look at all the character in the wood from the harsh weather conditions on top of Beech Mountain.

Working out the details. Pouring epoxy for a perfect finish and determining the width of the open seam down the middle to allow for movement. Wood moves throughout it’s entire life and it’s our job to allow for this without damaging the furniture.

We love the styling of this modern rustic office with the bold desk and the reclaimed barn wood wall covering from our clients family farm.
Texture.
Rustic may look easy but so much goes into making this brand new piece of furniture look like it’s 100 years old. The top is made from reclaimed hand hewn oak beams, which of course were cracking apart. These four boards were painstakingly gone through and put back together using 22 mostly hidden bow ties and Paul’s tried and true woodworking techniques. I love how it turned out, can’t wait to see it in our client’s home. Beautiful hand forged iron base made by Oak Hill Iron in Morganton, NC.
